So many brand birthdays this month! WOOHOO! Too Faced is launching their 1998 Original Collection on Thursday, 8.02! This collection celebrates their 20th birthday! Wow, we had no idea Too Faced was this old! Oops, don’t tell them we said that… The collection includes the Then and Now Eyeshadow Palette ($59) which has 10 original eyeshadow shades with an updated formula and 10 brand new shades! Also the collection will have Throw Back Metallic Sparkle Lipstick ($22) with 10 shades based on some of their original lipsticks and two brand new shades. Finally, there will also be their Better Than Sex Mascara ($24).
We are loving the whole theme and concept of this collection! We love the idea of combining some OG Too Faced products, colors and ideas with some brand new innovation! I bet this was like, the funnest thing to plan and design for the people at Too Faced! And most likely this has been in the work for a while. Twenty years is a HUGE milestone! And while the whole collection is honestly so awesome, we are OBV mainly going to focus on the palette because we are just such eyeshadow palette people, duh. And, before we forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO FACED! Now, on to the palette – is anyone else just a tiny bit confused? It seems like the idea is that the top row is some of their very first shade launches (thankfully with their current, updated formula that we all know and love) and the bottom row says “the originals – reinvented”. This is where they kind of lost us. So are these like the corresponding shades atop them but just updated to create something more cohesive? Are they just inspired but the original shades but basically something new altogether? It seems more likely to be the latter only because some shades seem veryyyyy similar (like the first two and the purple and the split-pan black and white, etc) while others definitely look to be similar but more or less in a corresponding way where one may be shimmery and the other is a matte version or perhaps a bit more of a wearable tone/version of the OG. Either way, this is a pretty serious palette. Counting the split-pans, you get 22 shades here! That is a ton! But for almost $60, we better be gettin hella shades, am I right?! This is definitely a collectors item, for sure, but may also be perfect if you’re just starting off with your collection and need to add a ton of shades! This just about has them all!
